The most effective way to build a strong network in corporate world.

Have you ever thought about what helps you build a strong network?
Communication skills, aurora, presentability, qualification, money, expensive establishments, or any of them coming in your mind right now. These all act as a support system and may be of least importance.


We will take it forward with an example,

Imagine there are two businessmen A and B, and there is an M.P. from Jaipur named X. 
Briefing:-  Both A & B need to set up a garment business in Jaipur and for that, they need the support of X. There is a twist, X too needs the support of a guest house in Jaisalmer for his campaigning, this was known to both A & B.
A is a person with less worth, polite, and expert in building strong networks whereas B is a person of high worth, polite but is not much experienced in networking. 
Returning back to the example, 
'A' knowing what X is in need of, offered him his own guest house in Jaisalmer for campaigning ignoring the cost over his upcoming business in Jaipur.
On the other hand, 'B' passed the meeting in casual talks persuading X to support him in Jaipur, at the end offered him some money and a stake in the garment business instead of owning a guest house in Jaisalmer. 

Both of the businessmen made an offer in return for X support. Who do you think X will stick to?

Obviously 'A'. Both of the businessmen made an offer to X but which was more relevant and demanding at that very point, "a guest house support", and that's where 'A' wins the network.

Now, coming to the mainstream, what wins you a network? 
It's always the offer you choose to return for mutual benefit. Be it a company on your campus, be it an  HR manager, be it a politician, or anyone other than your blood relation, if you want a network always help yourself to be in leverage with a valid offer.

An offer is not always in terms of something tangible, it can be intangible like feelings, an emotion that you give someone when they need it, your respect, your ability, your capability, your skills, and anything that brings benefit to others. Everyone needs something in return whether you accept it or not, whether it is monetary, non-monetary, or tangible, whether it is feeling, love or care, you always return with mutual understanding and that's the secret of building networks. 

Now, think of an HR manager recruiting you for the post of a business analyst, what you think will win you this network. Remember if you win this you get a job and a recommendation as well, but if you lose you have nothing.

What the HR wants from you in return? Just your capability and skill that differentiates you from others just like 'A'.
Why not prepare yourself with all the capabilities you can, to make an offer to someone, somewhere, someday so that it wins you a network?

That was my thought how one can leverage their position and it has been very beautifully showcased in " "House of cards", an American political drama.
